Good morning from La Paz, Bolivia.
We have adjusted relatively well to the high altitude since we arrived on Friday afternoon.
Our Airbnb is located at a lower elevation of only 10960 feet above sea level. 🤣
Yes, the same plant used to make cocaine.
But used in the tea form it is acceptable here in Bolivia.
On Saturday, we went to the Hope English Congregation’s Public Meeting.
Hope English was one of the congregations recommended by the Colombia Branch.
First, the journey required a 30 minute walk to the Teleférico (cable car).
We got on a car with a European couple who spoke perfect English.
A wonderful opportunity to practice the art of conversation. We never leave our accommodations without a JW.ORG pin visible somewhere on our person.
After changing cars about halfway through, we arrived at the end of our teleférico ride.
Altogether the ride took about 30 minutes.
Next, we walked to the Kingdom Hall.
This took about 30 minutes, partly due to the street being reconstructed.
We were warmly welcomed by about 20 of our brothers and sisters serving with the Hope English Congregation.
Some of the friends were attending a Spanish Regional Convention, so the attendance was about half of what it would normally have been.
The population of La Paz is well over a million people, with at least that many (or more) in El Alto.
After the meeting, we walked down the mountain about 6 blocks (felt like 20) to one of our favorite restaurants here in La Paz.
When dinner was finished, we went down the hill even further to the mall, where one of the grocery stores is located. This was a regular shopping spot during our time living in La Paz.
We finished up our day by traveling back to our Airbnb via Uber.
Tired and worn out from the activity, but so thankful for the experience.
